In which case I'd also believe that eating pork was a sin, clothes made out of wool were immodest, earth is just a few thousand years old, and the universe was created in 7 days.
Perhaps the story was meant to represent cleansing and new beginnings, rather than to say that God actually talked to a man named Noah, and actually told him to build an ark that holds a pair of every single living species of animal on the planet lol. Some people say it was a metaphor for baptism.
