This is just silly. How many alerts you have depends greatly on your settings. Click on "User CP" and then click on "Alert Settings." You can see that there is a list of things that can be checked. Many of us have quite a few of the things unchecked, because we don't want too many alerts. And then some of us delete old alerts, so that we don't have as many as people who have everything checked and never delete their alerts.
Right now, I have zero alerts. I had hundreds before I went in and changed the settings, and deleted the damn things.
