He got off easy, Officer Dredd could have just shot him and claimed that he feared for his life (or fed him to a fucking alligator and nary said a word). The lesson, well known by natives is thus: you don't fuck around with Florida Sheriffs. Shut your mouth, keep your hands visible, and provide your papers. Remember who elects the leadership which sends the marching orders down the pipe.....fearful geriatrics. This is a state that had a riot a decade ago over an unarmed black kid shot to death -alot- by cops....a state that uses dogs to evict the homeless in order to protect property values. That's just -one- city, one of the most docile cities in this state no less..mind you. Take it out into the swamp and prepare for a third world "law enforcement" experience. Martin county, 90% white, btw, and 30% over 65 (and another 25% 45-64). Cracker country. Even makes -me- nervous to drive through. Good thing about the area, though, is that the roads are straight and flat, so you can hit em at a smooth 120 and be through it quick. OTOH, the stateys have some badass interceptors for just that reason, so you might have to be prepared to take it into the sugarsand......
