Man caused the bloodshed, when God kill the the animals to cloth Adam and Eve the skins covered their nakedness and the shed blood covered their sin. It's not that God couldn't have done it another way, this is what He chose, the shedding of blood shows us the awfulness of sin, even yourself says it'e repugnant.
