you have the jet fuel doing it's thing burning the steel beams were already stressed and there you have it.
The building's structure could, and did, absorb the impact with being fatally weakened. The issue was that the fireproofing on the steel frame was stripped by the impact, and several hundred thousands of pounds of Jet-A were dumped into the building. Contrary to Hollywood misconceptions, liquid fuel doesn't all go up at once in a big bang. Only the vapors explode; the liquid in this case was scattered to start fires which then weakened the unprotected columns.
Had those airplanes been at the end of their flights rather than the beginnings, with much less fuel aboard, I believe the buildings would still be standing.
