Hitler also favoured gun control, abortion, social welfare, free education, and a raft of other issues that today we would describe as 'leftist' policies. But this didn't make Hitler a leftist in the modern sense of the word any more than his warmongering made him a 'right wing extremist' in the same vein as some in the US. Where do you find GOP policies advocating internment/murder camps, wars for liebensraum, and the genocide of 'inferior races'?
Don't mistake my meaning - I'm no fan of Hitler or Nazism. The world would be a happier place is this megalomaniacal horror of a human being had been drowned at birth.
