My parents phoned me up last month because they had a bumper crop of apples. So they gave as much away as possible, and took the rest to a farm to be pressed. The only thing left to do was to make cider. I used to be really into brewing about 20 years ago but it's not so suitable for a small flat when your partner is tee total.
But it all got me thinking that I would love to get back into it again. I never did get to making my own beer from scratch, only from kits, where I would buy malt extract and use that instead of sugar. It would be great to do it living in the highlands of Scotland though because the water is so yummy. It's why scotch is world renowned, it's the peat in the water.
