That's not what I was saying though. I am suggesting that you were looking at something commonplace and mistaking it for something more or you were experiencing illusions, delusions, distortions of perception or delusions.
I didn't see any specter or witness a shadow moving across a room. I saw no entity of any kind. Therefore, illusions and/or delusions were not possible. Also, I was (and still am) a huge skeptic. What I did experience was shared by 4 other people over a period of 3 months.
Anyway, this does bring up a very good point. Atheists are always very adamant about defining the word atheist as only one thing: a person who does not believe in the existence of god(s).
Yet clearly being an atheist does seem to mean that generally you will not consider anything unknown outside of your understanding. If someone like me mentions the mere possibility of someone's consciousness existing outside their mortal body or something even simpler, like the existence of aliens in the human historical record, suddenly they immediately discount it and scoff at anyone willing to consider it.
Now don't get me wrong. I think skepticism is extremely important in deducing what should and should not be considered, but already I've had two atheists mock me in regards to something they haven't even yet heard about. I'm not saying that you should believe me, but lets face it, your atheism in this case has already decided something that has nothing to do with God ... only the unknown.
just a curious thing I've noticed about atheists over the years.
