If you're reading it literally, then:
A. There was already light before the sun, so no problem with photosynthesis.
B. The sun came a day after the plants. Plants don't die from one day without light.

Leaving aside the silliness of there being no problem with photosynthesis because "there was already light before the sun" 'cause Genesis, there is that little issue of heat. No sun, for however little time, means no heat sufficient to permit plant life, even for a day.
Unless, of course, you want to smuggle local heat into your just-so story and declare no problem. Or magic. Or whatever. I expect you'll do whatever it takes to salvage your story and don't expect you to be serious.
