The video game companies are just as bad as Hollywood when it comes to mass-producing garbage, but they're totally different mediums. The hardware games are produced on is always improving, which allows games to actually improve on what they've started. Sequels are often times lauded as some of the best games to come out. Sequels to movies, on the other hand, are rarely ever better than the original, and usually the further you get from the original, the worse they get. Perhaps you don't see people react so strongly because we know the mass-produced games are coming out every year, so there's no surprise to see that the material is being recycled. It's expected.
But yeah, we don't need a new Call of Duty, either. I do begrudgingly admit to renting it out of curiosity, though.
