After Rocky IV and V, I agreed with you. When "Rocky Balboa" came out, I very nearly gave it a miss completely. It finally showed up on a streaming site and I watched it out of sheer boredom. I was honestly surprised because it wasn't just a rehash of the same old script twisted to fit a new set of characters. It was, in my opinion, the best of the sequels.
