I do not know where the "life came from a rock" originated. Life started with some, heretofore, unknown chemical process. We can replicate the formation of the individual building blocks (self-replicating cell membranes and self-replicating RNA), but without a satisfactory time frame or a way to speed up the time frame, it is still in the realm of debate of the actual processes involved to create life. We have not even come up with an absolute description of life nor at what point the chemical process can be considered life.
For instance, is a virus alive? That is still up for debate.
You make people miserable and there's nothing they can do about it, just like god.

Science is like a blabbermouth who ruins a movie by telling you how it ends. There are some things we don't want to know. Important things.
