The idea that some people said stuff that sounded crazy at the time but turned out to be true, does not support the idea that every crazy idea should be taken seriously just in case it turns out to be true.
Once the evidence is in, that's the time to take things seriously. Until then, clinging to the hope that there will be evidence is foolish.
And if you want to divorce spirituality from science, then there can never be evidence. Unfalisifiable nonsense it is then.
