However, if you did not join an Atheist forum for the purpose of expressing or talking about your beliefs, why did you join? I'm genuinely curious, i'm not saying this to try and make you leave or anything, I just don't see a real purpose based on what you described, considering the subject matter of the forum is made clear as day with the name and website address.
That's a fair question. The interest started when a few of my atheist friends/acquaintances started posting a lot of anti christian, atheist stuff on facebook. I was curious and always wanted to post questions to ask them but didn't because I was afraid it would start drama. So I joined an atheist forum to ask those questions and try to understand some of the stuff I was seeing. It was interesting and fun to me, especially since I was bored a lot at home... being a housewife.
Now a days I'm here because I've made some friends and enjoy a lot of the silly discussions we have. I still ask serious questions sometimes, but I do feel like I'm part of the community and it's fun.
I would say that even though, I mean I guess it's a fair point to make, I don't think it's really an excuse to say you shouldn't be expected to talk about your beliefs. I think it depends on the circumstances, but given the context that you joined a forum supporting the opposite position of yours, I think to some degree you kind of should be, or at least be less dismissive of someone asking about your beliefs. I'm not saying it's your duty to talk about your beliefs, i'm just saying as general common sense most people including myself would assume someone in your position should talk about their beliefs.
Which is better:
To die with ignorance, or to live with intelligence?
Truth doesn't accommodate to personal opinions.
The choice is yours.
