No one needs to accept this prescriptive twist on morality to act morally. Most people are already wired to take what other people are feeling into account. There is no need for them to then make it their mission to make everyone as happy as possible. That is the sort of perversion of morality which religion often adds. Morality as actually practiced and experienced by the great majority of people involves no such moral marching orders.
