I heard someone at work say that, technically, we are already in World War 3 if you consider the sheer amount of countries who are at war right now.
I don't think of it that way though, since it's an overwhelmingly united war against one common enemy - the Islamists. It doesn't feel so much like WW2, where you had several very powerful countries (namely Germany, Italy and Japan) actively provoking war on the other side.
