Better be careful with your shoulder, paulpablo. Your hand position on pull-ups may be a little too wide, putting excess stress on your shoulders. Try narrowing your grip a bit (about shoulder width or just beyond) and see if it persists. Alternatively, you can do lat pull-downs if you have access to a gym.
I usually stay in the rep range you're describing for hypertrophy work (8~12 reps for 3 sets). I like doing pyramid sets with trap bar deads. I consider them more of a power/raw strength exercise so my rep ranges are much lower. I usually do a rep scheme like 8, 6, 4, 2/1 with those, but that's not set in stone or anything.
