Quote:I am not taking away from Hendrix at all. I am saying Reid if all things were equal and things panned out differently at the QM level, Reid should have been on top as well, but with every aspect of life, competition does not allow every talented person to get as high. I think both are top notch but times and circumstances lead to different outcomes.
I think if you put both at the same starting point, at the same time Reid under similar circumstances would have done the same or better. I think he'd blow away Hetfield too.
I don't know Reid's circumstances, but he's been active for what, 30 years or so? Hendrix was in the spotlight for less than 5 years, had a grand total of 3 albums, then snuffed it at 27...how much more favourable to Reid could the 'circumstances' be?
I love yer, Brian, but come on - Hendrix was the best rock guitarist who ever lived, bar none, and has had far more influence on several genres of music than Reid could dream of. You're a good man, but you're wrong on this one.
