Also I want to go to Africa to climb so bad. South Africa has this place called the rock lands which looks amazing, but just as cool is some of the less explored stuff in Ethiopia or west Africa.
I'm in Michigan. I'm sure we have some rock climbing. My local rec center actually has a rock climbing center with some advanced walls, but if I did it I would prefer it to be natural formations and outside. I can't get in to a gym regiment, I prefer being in activities like touch football, soccer, basketball that work your whole body and have a social aspect. I could never get in to lifting.
Michigan, that's a tough one, not so much because there isn't rock climbing there but more because of the weather. https://www.mountainproject.com/v/michigan/106113246
Rock climbing does so much more for your overall fitness then any of those sports though, and you don't need a court or anything. Actually with bouldering you can just do it by yourself. A climbing gym is great though, it's a lot different environment then a regular gym, much more social, much more fun. It feels more like having fun then working out. It's also a great way to meet people to go outdoor climbing. A christian rock climber is sort of an interesting novelty too. I honestly only know maybe one or two.
Also remember the rules of rock climbing. In order of most important:
1. Always look cool.
2. Get good photos so you can show off.
3. Safety
