As a non-believer, how do I mentally let go of things beyond my control??...

RE: As a non-believer, how do I mentally let go of things beyond my control??...
Well to be blunt, when I was a christian, I found that when I would trust god my problems didn't get any better. If anything they stayed the same or got worse. I trusted the idea of what I called god enough to think that if I did trust him with those things that he would take care of them. In time I realized that I had a bigger issue. That issue was that I was neglecting to do anything about them myself. My point is that if you believe in surrendering your problems to god fine. But don't allow your self to use that an an excuse to be neglectful. If you do that long enough you can be come very helpless.
For myself, (and I'm sure others can relate) self-realization is the best way for me to relieve stress. As far as surrendering things, I've found that the better I've gotten to know myself the better I know how to deal with things. Surrendering or prolonging things isn't necessary in my opinion.
