I'm asking this out of both curiosity and doubt.
You either have to be really good friends with alcohol on hand, or everyone is pissed off at the company which is just about to go under. Those are the only two times in my career that I have ever found out someone else's wage.
I also once worked at a university. My contract was coming to an end and the university were legally obliged to find alternative employment for me. A position was advertised and I considered going for it but decided not to because the guy was a Muslim and I had only ever seen him interact with other men. I didn't want to waste my time applying. No one applied for the post. The head of the department came up to me and asked why I didn't apply and told me that it was going to be re-advertised. I put a lot of time and effort into applying. Eventually the Muslim gave the job to a man equally qualified even though the university were breaking the law by not finding me alternative employment if any was available.
This is the thing, we can't think in terms of outright sexism from entire countries or companies. Each is made up of individuals. The university above wasn't a sexist place, I actually want to work there again. It was just an individual. Was the Muslim man being consciously sexist or acting on an unconscious bias? I don't know. Can I prove an unconscious bias in this particular instance? No. No one can. Do they exist? Yes, we all have them. That has been demonstrated.
