I think to a certain extent, you can't and you don't need to. Building one's own identity often involves finding ways in which one is special, ways to differentiate oneself from the anonymous billions. I do it all the time, most people probably do. Just be aware of it and don't let it cloud your skepticism or get carried away otherwise.
