It won't ever be, not because we are so few, but specifically because we insist on being so good. We are such unnaturally better people that we put the process of natural selection on hold by not helping it remove those who are driven by fantasy from the gene pool, and they are so much better than we are at breeding! %&$#ing conundrums of nature, cans of worms that should never be opened, Pandora and her cute little box...
I think unfortunately there will be times you have to react in self defense, but that is not the same as advocating genocide. I wasn't accusing anyone of wanting a godless utopia, but I do occasionally run into a few atheists that do think it is possible to get rid of religion completely. My only argument would be "how"? I think the world would be better off without it, but reality is messy and really all you can do is deal with reality and try to manage it in a more civil degree.
Yup - it's a nice dream (a world without religion), but there's no way it can happen clean in our lifetimes. However, I'm not sure that this is any reason that we should respect religious opinions, rather than address them for the delusional lunacy which they are. If progress is to be made with our generations, to truly slow down and mitigate the impact of religious "awakening" cycles, then I think more of us need to practice activism against religious political shenanigans, and stop being so polite with those who we see spouting nonsense just to avoid unpleasant confrontations.
Mr. Hanky loves you!
