For sure. I usually download a current-updated version of Windows every time this happens (about once every two years in my case). I also have my core programs in .iso form on a backup drive.
So: 15 minutes to download Windows, 15 minutes to install it, and I'm back up. I can play with the internet while I'm reinstalling all my programs, and maybe an hour later, it's like it all never happened.
Get a fucking virus or accidentally install something that hijacks my browser, and I could take hours and hours figuring out how to get rid of it. Probably going to involve restarting in safe mod, typing stuff in DOS prompts, downloading various ad cleaners and antivirus. Just not worth it.
That being said, my system gets screwed in this way WAY less often than it did 10 years ago. Unless I install something titled "Pornroulettedotcom.exe" or something like that, it's unlikely that I'm going to get anything.
