Neither my boyfriend nor I want a religious wedding either. I guess we'll cross that bridge in a few years, but I have a feeling it's not going to be pretty...When I married my wife I was somewhat deistic moving towards agnostic, and my wife could care less. So we rented out a hall to hold our wedding in. We had the ceremony with a justice of the peace and the party at the same place, ordered a keg of beer, told everyone in the invitation that they could dress however they want ( I wore a dress shirt and tie with flowers in the pocket and my wife wore a type of sun dress with a laurel of flowers in her hair that I asked the women to help out with and they thought it was a wonderful idea.). The ritual was more secular than anything else with just a passing mention of god, which was the way I liked it at the time.
So yes, there are many ways you can do it.. if I may suggest something..try something NEW and ORIGINAL and try to make it where it includes family members helping out and getting involved instead of boring rituals (like the flower laurel or something).
