Did you report them? Any licensed dealer -- and all retail sellers are federally licensed -- must see your ID, have you complete a 4473, and he must also initiate a NICS check: http://smartgunlaws.org/federal-law-on-b...nd-checks/
Your purchase was clearly handled in an illegal manner. Did you report it? Will you be doing so?
What? Really? -- !! -- I went into one of the largest, most reputable brick-and-mortar dealers in the State. I just believed the guy when he said that nobody required all that paperwork anymore! Oh, I can be so naive . . . Yes, according to your link, they should have done an NICS check, taken my driver's licence, etc. Um, wow. My little STI Elektra could be illegal.
I have all of the paperwork tucked into the manual in the gun case. (For the safety-conscious posters, yes, it's in a safe.) I will check it when I get home. I know that there was only one (very young) worker in the store when I was there, and that all of the other guys were at lunch. I don't want to get anyone fired, but I do think that it is my duty to talk to the manager about this. Thanks, Thump!
