I'd like to research into my Maltese side more, I feel such a strong, almost spiritual tbh, connection to the islands and The Mediterranean in general. I don't know all that much about my family history there though.
Just the odd story, typically from the wartime. I'm aware my great-grandfather was somewhat wealthy, but pissed it all away gambling and treated my great-grandmother like a human punch-bag. They had 19 children, of which my grandfather was the youngest. One of the oldest died alongside a local priest during the war, they were trying to save a baby from a collapsing building. Sounds like something stereotypical you see in movies, but it actually happened.
I hope I can find something more positive further back

"Ironically like the nativist far-Right, which despises multiculturalism, but benefits from its ideas of difference to scapegoat the other and to promote its own white identity politics; these postmodernists, leftists, feminists and liberals also use multiculturalism, to side with the oppressor, by demanding respect and tolerance for oppression characterised as 'difference', no matter how intolerable." - Maryam Namazie
