The 100 Prisoner's problem

Here's the correct solution (remember, this is a prison): Joey 'Little Foots' Gambinocolumbocapone has friends on the outside. He makes it plain to the prison director that if he (Joey) doesn't pick his own number, terrible things will happen to the director's family ('We don't want nobody should get hurt or nuttin, do we?'). Problem solved.
