Opportunistic diseases are kept in check by anti-bodies, produced by while blood cells, which are produced in bone marrow... which would need to be replaced by these stem cells to start producing stuff with the correct DNA.... how long does it take to replace the bone marrow on an adult?.... (I'll go ahead and guess years!)
Also.... what the heck?! normal DNA had been producing a decent protection against those bugs for centuries, but, all of a sudden... no can do? I didn't get that part... were the bugs altered and introduced into the wild?
Also... I didn't know that immunity to bugs like the cold was a genetic trait... don't those antibodies get passed on through mother's milk and/or get acquired through other environmental exposures?
