No, it's true.  I always like to say, "What do the Bible and the US Constitution both have in common?  They were both written by racist, sexist, conquesting, genocidal, slave-driving rapists."

Is that why Christianity is so popular there?
Did the book make them act that way to go to heaven, or are only those already corrupt attracted to it?

Both Manifest Destiny and chattel slavery were justified and defended by appeals to the Bible.

I don't think the book made them act that way, but the simple fact that it was used to justify genocide and slavery is in itself a damning indictment.
