Super Delegates are chosen by the party from elected officials and other party operatives. Unlike the other delegates they are not voted on directly or through a caucus. They are an attempt by the Democratic party establishment to keep the voters from nominating candidates too far outside either party norms, or too radical to be electable. The Republican party establishment is wishing they had some Super Delegates right about now.
I don't know it they are a good thing or a bad thing. They limit democracy within the party. But they may make the party's nominee more electable. They may eventually lead to third parties. But whatever else they might do, they give Clinton a gigantic head start.
If there is a god, I want to believe that there is a god. If there is not a god, I want to believe that there is no god.
