OK how's this. What if you were poked 1000 times in the same spot identically, but only once a day (plenty of time to heal and return your body to it's same condition). Would you say the pain which isn't obviously cumulative therefore diminutive holds the same sway over your reaction to getting pricked as say (going through it again) vs. shoving a screwdriver under your fingernail? Has your fear response to the singular pin prick remained constant from before?
