I find that when I work in academia and I am presenting to an audience (as in my work, not my posterior), I adopt a pseudo foreign accent. This is because in any academic environment in the UK you will find a significant number of people who do not speak English as a native language and the accents all sort of mingle into one.
When I speak in academia, I usually don't speak my native language. But I also adopt a somewhat more British accent than usual.
