It's funny how history repeats itself, and funnier how Christians always use the same damn tropes in order to excuse their willful ignorance.
-early-
These bathroom/locker room fusses were the same idiocy used with gays in schools. Don't let gay boys in boys locker rooms, they'll look at my son's penis!
-later-
Same with gays in the military: We shouldn't let them serve in the military, because we have to be naked sometimes and they'll just be perving on my penis!
-now-
Don't let transgender women in my bathroom/locker room, they'll look at my vagina and attack me while I pee!
-early-
Leviticus 25:44 tells us to get our slaves from the nations around us, God has granted us the right to own slaves!
-later-
Daniel 2:42 says the iron shall not mix with the clay, interracial marriage is heresy!
-now-
The Bible says homosexuality is a sin! Marriage is one man and one woman! Heresy!
They'll soon alienate too many young people and there will be a revelation of tolerance. Gawd will all of a sudden have a change of heart.
The most ironic part is that homosexuality isn't a new phenomenon. They've always been in the bathrooms/locker rooms with us. Neither is gender dysphoria. There have always been transgender individuals in the world. Thank goodness some of us have the capacity for empathy to grasp how impossible it is to even come close to understanding what it is like to have to live in a state of physically/mentally feeling like your fucking body is wrong. I don't even know how to fucking start to comprehend that.
Fuck anyone who says they should just shut up and deal with it rather than being supportive and assisting them on a journey to be their true selves, whether that involves transitioning or not. That to me is the most galling thing about religion. It teaches you that because you read a verse in a book, you have the ability to speak for someone in a situation that you intentionally--willfully--know fuck all about. It teaches you to remove people's humanity so they can fit in a box of your choosing.
Gross.

"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great
