Just because someone proved a god existed, does not mean I would follow said god.
It all depends on the attributes of the god that was proven to exist.
For example: if the the Quran is an accurate depiction of your god's attributes, I would not want anything to do with him.
You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.
