I support distancing from the US in any case. We should be more concerned with out own region, and form a stronger relationship with China. China has some bad internal policies for sure, but their international policies are pretty good - they want countries to get along together without military conflict, which is the opposite of what the USA wants.
The other thing about the USA is their obsession with supporting wealthy industries - whether the film and TV industry, the music industry, or big pharma. We're never going to see sensible international IP reforms whilst countries align themselves closely with the USA. If it was up to me the copyright term would be reduced to about 40 years in total, and I'd support a review of patent terms as well (although I do think 20 years is still reasonable for many patents, but perhaps not for all types of patents). And really, we should be supporting small business not big business, that's how you increase competition and that is what capitalism thrives on.

The WIN/Gallup End of Year Survey 2013 found the US was perceived to be the greatest threat to world peace by a huge margin, with 24% of respondents fearful of the US followed by: 8% for Pakistan, and 6% for China. This was followed by 5% each for: Afghanistan, Iran, Israel, North Korea. -LINK
"That's disgusting. There were clean athletes out there that have had their whole careers ruined by people like Lance Armstrong who just bended thoughts to fit their circumstances. He didn't look up cheating because he wanted to stop, he wanted to justify what he was doing and to keep that continuing on." - Nicole Cooke
