Your begging sympathy for an apple to an orange, your muslimy godiness to my minor annoyance on a bus. Seriously wtf? Why even pick my post to respond to? Those were rhetorical questions. She was divorcing her husband and this was the first move. She was crying and asking her child (12ish) if she had some napkins. The girl didn't so I offered her the tissues I had.
She then said "Your a good christian."
I could have said "Actually I'm an Atheist." But from her earlier outbursts I knew she was a born again Evangelical. So instead I said "I'm not religious."
I checked myself at the time, I know why I checked myself and it bothers me that I had to. It's the first time I've been effected by a minority status. As a white male I'm pretty much the default position. I've lived in poor minority communities but it was always sorta "Walden's pond". I knew I wouldn't be there forever.
So that pissed me off.
Also people in general. Few go even slightly out of their way to help others.
God rewards everybody who do good; atheist or not.
So don't be angry; you'll get a repay for your compassion one way or another; God is just..oh wait, you're an atheist..
Sorry I get crazy sometimes..they called me a troll here once, but I'm not, I simply offer a different voice in this community. being the "opposition"; it's fun sometimes, but in many cases it's not..but a lot of good people here, so..
Consider the word "Christian" to be a nice word..maybe she should've picked another word, but what do you expect from "another one", or as we say "one mainstream fella, from the mainstream, thinking like the mainstream, doing what the mainstream people do".
Get used to it; being a Muslim (and an Arab) I can tell you that you'll ge used to it..
