If your family has bad or no health insurance I'd understand why they're hesitant. Do you have any medical conditions already? Are you very overweight? If you said no to both those things, your chance of having heart damage is very small. But some cardiovascular conditions wait a long time to present themselves and you may not even realize it.
I had extreme (like 10 on the pain scale) chest pain right where my heart was last month. But I'm stage 3 CKD which causes high blood pressure and high cholesterol, so it was code red in my eyes. My heart suffered no damage so I'm not sure what it was, but it didn't hurt to take the ambulance ride and get the blood tests because thankfully my insurance covered it.
For all those asking for my age, I just turned 15. So i cant really rule out growing pains or anything like that.
