If the fighting lasts long enough he will become an active fighter.  The intent is to end the fighting as quickly as possible.  We've never been reluctant to kill babies in war.  Therefore if you want to protect them don't start a war.

Unfortunately evolution does not work that way, not even in humans. The only thing humans have is empathy, and that means fostering global diplomacy. I agree we don't need more war, but we also cannot be isolationists 100% of the time either.

My X wife is Japanese, her grandfather served for Japan against us. Her parents were young at the time. I know damned well they were good parents otherwise I wouldn't have married her. I don't blame them for the beefs our governments had between each other. I only blame Japan for it's fascism of the time.

I am sick of far too much of my species worldwide not seeing our governments have the ideological conflicts but the average civilian as an individual are simply sold the societal norms of the societies they were born into. None of that changes the fact that all 7 billion of us are the same species. I only blame bad ideas, not individuals.
