It is hard for humans to comprehend how flimsy they are compared to an adult gorilla (or a juvenile, for that matter). The silverback was acting agitated and dominating, not protective. Gorillas are perfectly capable of being gentle to their own young and, as a rule, don't drag them around like old dolls. This one was exhibiting behavior that typically leads to violently throwing things around, destroying scenery, and chest thumping. The child could have been maimed or killed instantly at any point.
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.
