That said, the BBC could not continue in its existing form (which not only includes TV but Radio as well) without public funding. Personally, I don't pay the license fee (I don't have a TV) but benefit massively from some top quality programmes available on iPlayer and the Radio for free. Those with TVs simply have to decide whether it's worth paying the license fee given the pay-off and/or petition the government to do something about it (which I know has been done, but with no effect so far).
