Comparing and contrasting is a tool we use to analyze things. Some people think that when the topic is Islam, we should not use that particular tool. The motivation for not wanting to use the full arsenal of reason on this topic is probably the same as any other time you're asked not to use reason: it's not very convenient for your position. If you can't even discuss other religions without being accused of some kind of deflection, how will you figure out if they're equally bad?
