Or Arya simply killed an innocent servant girl and took her face. Wouldn't be the first time she killed in cold blood, in order to further her own cause... Arya's a monster - get over it. Especially, that at this point most characters seem to be monsters...
And while we're at it - how did Arya make the Frey-pie? And what for (except for the obvious wink towards the book readers)? She would have needed a kitchen for many hours and someone would most likely see her grinding parts of human bodies. Did she feed the Freys to anyone else, or just baked the one pie to show Walder, just before killing him? Because seems like a lot of hassle, to do all that and not even let him taste it...
And the thumb was just silly, imho. I imagine the writers thought they had to spell it out for some portion of the audience, that the pie was made of people, and they also wanted the cheap gross-out effect. Oh, well - dumbing down is the price of popularity, I guess...
I didn't see a thumb but I got it anyway. And I don't think it was because of the fact that I had read the books, but simply because of the dialogue and the actors' expressions. I can't imagine anyone would be stupid enough not to get it.
