The camera is kinda sore subject to me.
You're correct, the radiation is expected to fry it pretty fast, and while it is digital and the imaging sensor is top notch, the lens on the camera is very wide angle, like nearly 60 degrees.
For those of us brought up with the Voyager NA camera with a field of view under 0.5 degrees (a pretty darn good telephoto lens!) this super wide angle camera on Juno is going to yield a very different kind of view than I'd really like to see from Jupiter. There won't be pics of the fascinating satellites with any kind of resolution at all.
