Hammy, glitches happen. They just do. Too many variables.
While you've got nothing worth saving, now would be a good time to do a fresh install somehow.
You know, there's a chance just reloading windows again might be beyond you? (do you have media? Can you get? It must be identical version) bla bla.
I'd confirm that before letting Linux wipe out.
Just trying to save you heartache further down the track considering your finances.
If I was you, I'd let all the updates install and then install Win10. (much better)
You might be able to do it through Windows update.
