Rob Bell responded a couple of weeks ago - the critic hadn't even read the book. Bell isn't a Universalist..... he's straight down the line Christian.
I think I read somewhere that he is indeed not a universalist but in talking about how his beliefs are that God is love he mentions that this seems to be incompatible with the concept of hell. It's funny how a bunch of Christian "celebreties" have come out condemming him and calling him a heretic. They pull out their claws at the mere suggestion of everyone going to heaven.
