No, this is just turning the tables of bigotry. Religions don't have to die. Only the tinfoily radicals have to die out. Not die in the literal sense of the word.
If religion wasn't around, people would simply flock to a different label to align behind and live out their vile instincts and bigotry. Actually that's what I don't understand with all too many people. That they consider the dying out of religion to be the remedy for what's wrong with this world. Religion is just another ideology when taken to the extreme. It's absence would instantly lead to new ideologies emerging. Human nature doesn't change.
Bold mine!
Can you back that up with some evidence or any reasoning at all?
Human nature does change, abaris, your own apparent cynicism about it notwithstanding. The proof for that is the positive change in quality of life we've experienced in the last few centuries and the last couple of decades in particular.
Eradicating religion is a very worthy goal. I don't think anyone is saying religion is the only problem the world has, so maybe take it down a notch with the straw figures. It is definitely one of them, though, it's tangible and it's real. It is definitely troublesome and we would be far better off without it. If you dispute that I'd be glad to hear why.
