Used to make me sad too, especially that I know how those dogs tended to die... Now it mostly makes me hate poor, uneducated people, who live in such abject conditions themselves, that they can't feel sympathy for living beings in their care, be it animals, or humans. And who - of course - use the bible to justify their cruelty.
