Because in a society it's a responsibility that makes things run smoother for everyone. If you choose not to do it, that's not morally wrong. Nor would choosing not to live in a society at all be morally wrong.
Why enforce it then, if you don't think it's wrong? Sounds to me like you'd want something to be a choice rather than a rule, if you don't think it's wrong.
But let's imagine no one registers their vehicles, because like you, they don't think it's wrong, and they get away with it. What happens then?
And let's imagine we allowed a certain territory on earth where no rules apply(so you have no society). What would then happen?
