You want the story based a long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far away to be realistic?
I have to argue against myself now because I really hate this kind of comment.
There's realism, and then there's plausibility and consistency with the self-imposed rules of the story universe (The SW universe establishes that certain people are forc-ey and therefore have superhuman capabilities. If a character isn't that, they should exhibit human-like capabilities). I really hate it when people dismiss scifi fantasy stories as something that doesn't even deserve enough thought to be as self-consistent as possible. I hate it almost as much as the crowd who'd say "Jurassic park is just a monster flick, so why should we expect anything but dumb action". I guess that's precisely the target audience that convinced Hollywood execs to let everything go to hell.
